"Two are better than one..."

So here is some irony for you: I spent my whole life believing I was not artistic because I was the least artistic person in a family full of tremendous artists. You know, the kind of people who can see a picture in their head and then sit down and draw it. The kind of people who can sit down with an instrument and easily learn to play it. The kind of people who can sing like song birds and make me sound like a warbler. They good naturedly (I think) made fun of my inability to create and therefore, I began to believe I was not a creator.

And then I found this friend. Or maybe she found me. Actually, I believe God gave us to each other. And she began to show me how she saw me. And it was nothing like I believed myself to be. She thinks I'm an artist. And I know without a doubt that she is one. With a guitar, her voice, and her hands.  We see in each other potential. And isn't that what friends should see? She freely speaks God's truth in to my heart. You know, the truth that has been distorted by lies I somehow began to believe about who I am. And I make every effort to do the same for her.

We saw beauty in each other and we began to see ourselves as two caterpillars who had spent too long in their chrysalis' and had no choice but to emerge as butterflies. That's how we see ourselves, two butterflies who had believed the lies for too long. Two butterflies who know the truth that "two are better than one." Two butterflies who bring out the best in each other. We believe God has bound us together and we want to share the joy and freedom that can be found when we nurture God-given friendships. And since we have a deep need to create, we created something of our own to share with other people: Deux Papillons. Neither of us are mothers, but we feel like we have birthed this business. We will nurture it because we love it. And we love it because it is an extension of our love for each other--and more importantly how God intends for His love to be lived out in relationship. So here are a couple of pictures of our art crosses (I guess that makes me a real "artist" now) and a little more information about who we are. We hope you will keep up with us and find us at a show near you. We'd love to hear about what God is doing in your life.

Who is Deux Papillons?

Deux Papillons, “Two Butteflies”, was born as an expression of love by Megan Findley and Stephanie Konvicka, two youth pastors who met on a mission trip and found in each other unconditional love and friendship. Understanding the healing power of love and friendship, Megan and Stephanie began working together to transform their own lives. Deux Papillons was born of this love. They believe “Two are better than one.” Every item handmade by them carries with it a blessing that the bearer will look upon their piece of art as a reminder to live a life of love. When you purchase a piece of Deux Papillons art, ten percent of sales goes to Labor of Love and Operation Love, ministries started by Megan and Stephanie to share God’s love with people in need.
